Alaskan
king crab legs are the top of the line when it comes to crab. They
are the largest among common food crabs, so they afford the most meat.
The flesh is tender, sweet and succulent.
Alaskan king crab legs are typically cooked and frozen before they
are purchased. So, it is not necessary to cook them before you eat
them. Simply thaw them in the refrigerator or at room temperature
and they are ready to serve. Cold crab meat makes a delicious salad,
or can be served on its own as hors d’oeuvre with dipping sauce.
Everyone knows that hot Alaskan king crab legs are much better than
cold ones. Crab legs can be heated several different ways. They can
be steamed using a steamer pot or specially designed steam oven. They
can be baked in a pan filled with a bit of water and covered in foil.
Even microwave preparation is viable. Place legs in a proper container
with a bit of water, or wrap them in a damp towel. No matter what
method you choose, heat the legs until the meat warms all the way
through. But do not overcook them or the texture will tough and stringy.
