Squid, commonly known as calamari, have a sweet, nutty and mild taste and a firm texture. Squid are low in fat, high in protein and are internationally prized for their versatility in the kitchen. They are especially popular in Asian and Mediterranean dishes and are delicious stuffed, fried, grilled, broiled or sauteed.

Calamari can be deep fried, pan fried, stir-fried, grilled or braised. To ensure your calamari doesn't become tough or chewy cook it quickly enough so it doesn't toughen, or braise it long enough to break down the dense, firm muscle fibers. Click here for recipes and more prep and handling info.
