Seafood

SeafoodSeafood is popular for the variety of types available and the many delectable ways it can be prepared. Here are some favorites you may already love or may want to give a try:

• Salmon – There are many who believe there is no more delicious fish than salmon. Not only is it delicious, but it is also good for you. Salmon is one of the healthiest types of fish you can eat. Not only does this fish taste great baked, but it can also be fried or blackened. Often, restaurants serve rice or vegetables or both with this fish.

One of the biggest reasons why people love salmon so much is because it is easy to eat and prepare. The fish is typically very flaky. This makes it a perfect item that you can eat with a fork or with your hands.

While your best bet for great taste might be buying salmon at the local grocer’s meat area, salmon is also often packaged in cans and sold that way as well. But, as with all seafood – the fresher the better.

• Lobster – Lobster is typically a little more expensive than most seafood, but there is god reason for this. The main reason is that it’s more difficult to come by and the best varieties are located in just two areas of the United States. People are always going to be willing to pay a little extra for this seafood simply because there is really not much else like it.

Lobsters are most often prepared alive and whole. In order to cook them, all you need is a pot of hot water and some lemon butter for dipping.

Lobster is not something that is served with a lot of different sides. Typically, you might get a pickle and a cup of hot, melted butter. When the lobster shell is broken open, the meat is white and plentiful. It can be a messy meal, but is delicious beyond words.

• Shrimp – Whereas lobster is a rare delicacy, shrimp is anything but rare, but still a delicious addition to your meal. Shrimp are very prevalent and can be found anywhere that seafood is served. Although jumbo shrimp is sometimes served as the main course to a meal, you will typically find shrimp as the side order to a meal of fish or as part of a sauce on a bed of pasta.

Shrimp is often served in its fried form, but there are many other places that you can purchase shrimp raw, boiled, or lightly steamed.

Each of these different types of seafood has their own following. While many seafood lovers will eat any of these different kinds of fish or crustacean, there are some who prefer one over another. Regardless of which kind is considered most delicious by the experts, the only opinion that really matters is that of your own taste buds.
